dc.description.abstract This study deals with the petrophysical interpretation of Ratana-03 well for reservoir characterization of Patala Formation in Ratana Field, Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan. In Potwar Sub Basin, Paleogene carbonates and Jurassic clastics are the main, proven reservoirs and Ratana Field is no exception, where these reservoirs are present within the reachable depth. The complete suite of wireline logs including GR log, caliper log, SP log, resistivity logs (MSFL, LLS, LLD), except for neutron log, and density log along with well tops were analyzed in this study. Logs of Neutron and Density were faded so average porosity was calculated from sonic porosity. The prime objective of this study was to mark zones of interest that could act as a reservoir and to evaluate reservoir properties including shale volume (Vsh ), porosity (ϕ), water saturation (Sw), hydrocarbon saturation (Sh). Based on Petrophysical evaluation of zone of interest that has been marked in Patala Formation i.e. Zone (16618-16674 ft). The average calculated parameters for the evaluation of reservoir properties of Ratana-03 well depicts an average porosity of 2.12% and effective porosity of 1.52%. Volume of shale is quite less i.e. 27.17%. Water Saturation is calculated as 55.85% and Hydrocarbons Saturation is 44.14%. The analysis shows that Sh of Ratana-03 well is sufficient enough for the production of hydrocarbons to be economically feasible. en_US
