Abstract:
The aim of this study is to check the reservoir potential of Amirpur-01 well in
Upper Indus Basin. The study concerned with reservoir potential evaluation using
petrophysical approach. The approach involves identifying, marking, analyzing, and
interpreting the reservoir zones from the well logs and by using different formulas.
Several well logs were used such as sonic log, gamma ray log, density log, neutron log
and resistivity logs. The petrophysical parameters such as Vsh, total porosity, water
saturation, effective porosity, hydrocarbon saturation was accessed from wireline logs.
The best possible reservoir in the well is Sakeser Limestone having thickness of
5m. Based on well log data, this reservoir is classified as excellent reservoirs owing to
their high effective porosity and hydrocarbon saturation. The parameters determined
includes volume of shale, porosity, resistivity of water, saturation of water, saturation
of hydrocarbon and lithology identification. The total marked zones of interest are two
in numbers and have 5m and 7m depth range. The Formations related to the
petrophysically marked zone of interest are Sakesar Formation and Lockhart
Formation.
Petrophysical results shows good hydrocarbon potential in Sakesar Limestone
with Saturation of hydrocarbons reaches 64%. Available data and interpretation of logs
suggest that this zone of interest is good reservoir and possessed great potential of
hydrocarbon accumulation and production.
