dc.description.abstract | The cement industry in Pakistan is facing several challenges related to raw materials, including shortages and rising costs. These challenges are caused by a number of factors, including: The quarrying and mining sector in Pakistan is underdeveloped, with a lack of investment in the necessary equipment and infrastructure. This has led to a shortage of raw materials, such as limestone, clay, and gypsum, which are essential for the production of cement. The reasons behind this shortage and its impact on cost is analyzed along with supply and demand analysis. The cement industry in Pakistan is facing increased competition for raw materials from other industries, such as construction and agriculture. This is further exacerbating the shortage of raw materials and driving up prices. The extraction and distribution of raw materials in Pakistan is largely unregulated, leading to a lack of oversight and control over the quality and quantity of materials available for the cement industry. The increase in fuel prices has also been a major factor in the rising cost of raw materials, as the cost of transportation of these materials has increased. These challenges are having a negative impact on the cement industry in Pakistan, leading to decreased production, higher prices for consumers, and a reduction in the profitability of companies in the sector. The industry is also facing problems such as low-capacity utilization, lack of export competitiveness and low quality of cement products which is further putting pressure on the industry. The government should take steps to address these challenges, such as investing in the quarrying and mining sector, implementing regulations and oversight to ensure the sustainable extraction and distribution of raw materials, and providing support to the cement industry in order to ensure its long-term viability. | en_US |
