dc.description.abstract This research is intended to provide a better understanding of subsurface structures of Sanghar area that lies in Lower Indus Basin, Sindh Pakistan. Sanghar district is considered as one of the largest districts which is situated in Sindh. The capital of Sanghar district is Sanghar itself which is a small city which is approximately 56 km east-southeast of Nawabshah This research is based on seismic and well data logs. Main objective of research is to create an understanding about the subsurface structural trends, understand the petroleum system, identifying source and reservoir mechanism and carrying out petrophysical analysis to work out reservoir potential. The present study comprises the subsurface structural interpretation of Sanghar area using seismic sections and identification of hydrocarbon bearing zones using Petrophysical analysis. Available data included four dip line and one strike line. The marked reflectors are recognized using Formation tops from well data of Khajari-01 which are Lower Goru formation, Chiltan Limestone and Shirinab Foramtion. Seismic interpretation of the given 2D information revealed that the study area is an extensional regime and normal faults were observed. Logs used were Gamma ray log and Neutron porosity log. Sonic log was not used because the sonic data was not reliable due to some malfunction in the equipment. The zones interpreted by the petrophysical study indicates that the Lower Goru Formation could have the most important hydrocarbon potential within the study area. en_US
