dc.description.abstract | Geographically the area under study lies in Jamshoro District and geologically in the Lower Indus Basin. The main aim of the study conducted is the structural interpretation and rock evaluation of the well Kothar-02 by using 2D seismic information and petrophysical analysis. 2D seismic interpretation of the area reveals that the area is faulted and folded with a component of strike slip as well. Positive flower structure were observed on the seismic section with the two major faults F1 and F2 dipping eastward and westward respectively. The results of time and depth contour maps also confirm the structure that is interpreted on seismic data. The petrophysical zones of interest lie in Dunghan Limestone and Ranikot Formation. There are four zones that are interpreted by the petrophysical analysis. The saturation of hydrocarbons is 7.81%, 20.66%, 1.84%, and 18.38% for zone 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively. On the basis of which it is concluded that the interpreted zones does not show hydrocarbon potential. | en_US |
