Abstract:
The presented study comprises of subsurface structural interpretation
of Mehar area using seismic sections and identification of hydrocarbon bearing zones
using Petro physical analysis. Mehar block is located in mountainous terrain
approximately 190 km west of Sukkur and 300 km north of Karachi, Sindh province,
Pakistan. Four seismic lines, and one well named Mehar-01 were acquired from
Director General Petroleum Concessions DGPC. Three horizons have been identified
on the seismic section using formation tops from well and their depths have confirmed.
The marked horizons are recognized using formation tops from well Mehar-01. Seismic
lines interpretation identified presence of thrusted anticlinal structure in the area, which
is most likely to be trap of hydrocarbon.
The zones interpreted by the study includes Ranikot, which suggests that it has
72.13% hydrocarbon Saturation and is 27.86% water saturated.
