2D SEISMIC INTERPRETATION AND PETROPHYSICAL ANALYSIS OF RATANA OIL FIELD, UPPER INDUS BASIN, PAKISTAN

Abstract

This dissertation is based on the interpretation of 2D seismic data and the petrophysical analysis of seismic lines in Ratana-03 well in the Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan. Ratana is located in Pindighep Tehsil, one of the Tehsils in the district of Attock. The data sets provided by DGPC include GR data sets, resistivity, SP and Sonic data sets. Four reflectors (red, yellow, blue, orange) are marked, which represent the Murree Group, Chorgali group, the Sakesar group and Salt Range. Reflectors were identified by using well top data. After that converting the time into depth with the help of average velocity. Afterwards petrophysical analysis was performed for determination of average porosity, effective porosity, saturation of hydrocarbons and saturation of water etc. Sakesar Limestone is considered as potential reservoir in the area. Pop-up anticlinal structures were observed from time and depth surfaces of all the four marked formations. The reflectors marked were of early Eocene, early Paleocene and Jurassic age respectively.
