Abstract:
Gambat block is geographically located about 42 kms south-west of Sawan Gas
field. Sands of Lower Goru Formation are the proven reservoir of the area, from which
nearby gas fields Miano, Kadanwari and Sawan have been producing high quality gas.
The main objective of this research is to find and locate prospect bearing zones in the
sands of Lower Goru Formation in Gambat area. The study for the structural
interpretation and reservoir analysis of Gambat area has been conducted using seismic
and petrophysical analysis. Formations from Pliestocene to Cretaceous age were found.
Time-Depth chart was generated which helped in seismic to well tie and identifying
reflectors. Horst and graben structures were marked on seismic data. Trapping
mechanism was identified as a horst structure which was found to be dipping towards
west, as all major faults were oriented NNE-SSW. Time and depth contours maps were
generated which provided further confirmation of our results. The petrophysical zones
of interest lie in Sembar Formation. Petrophysical analysis was performed on these
zones and the results showed hydrocarbon potential in the zones.
