Abstract:
The basic goal of research work was to assess hydrocarbon potential and
understanding subsurface structure of Dina Block Eastern Potwar Sub basin as well as
to estimate the petrophysical parameters of Shahab-01A well by arithmetical equation
with the use of well log data. The research work was based on two stages which were
seismic and well log data. In the Pliocene to Middle Pleistocene there was extreme
deformation in Eastern Potwar Sub basin during Himalayan orogeny. Structurally two
structures found are anticlinal pop up structures and thrusted fault blocks produced
due to the decollement by basement and confirmed by generation of time as well as
depth contour maps and velocity analysis of two targeted horizons Chorgali and
Sakesar Formations through seismic data. In second part of research area which was
petrophysical analysis, two zones of interest marked were potential zones of Chorgali
and Sakesar Formations. Hydrocarbon saturation of Chorgali and Sakesar formations
are calculated as 62.25% and 71.27% whereas water saturation of Chorgali and
Sakesar formations is calculated as 39.75% and 29.34% respectively. The status of
Shahab-01A well was suspended because of mechanical failure (fishery) in which the
drill bit falls and trapped into wellbore.
