Abstract:
The present study pertains to the modeling of hydrocarbon productive zones
along with estimation of physical properties and pore pressure predictions by using
well logs data of Jabo Field located in Southern Indus Basin Pakistan. This study has
been carried out using well log data of Jabo-01 and Jabo-05 provided by the
Directorate General of Pakistan concession. Literature shows the study area had
abnormal pressure conditions encountered in the wells that were drilled in the past.
Well log used to conduct pore pressure studies consists of Sonic, density and
GR logs. Jabo Field had experienced high pressures as well as low pressures at
different intervals. The pore pressure results confirm high pressure conditions in Jabo-
01 well whereas, Jabo-05 well has comparably normal pore pressures compared with
the hydrostatic pressure gradient of the study area. These results can be used to
estimate the overall pressure conditions in the study area to define pre-drill pressures
and adjustment of mud weights accordingly.
