Abstract:
Sequence stratigraphic interpretation was carried out in Gujar Khan Area of Potwar
sub basin, Upper Indus basin Pakistan. To accomplish this task well log data (Balkassar
Oxy-01,Daiwal-01,Kal-01,Rajian-01 and Missa Keswal-01) especially Gamma Ray Log
(GR log) along spontaneous potential log (SP log) and sonic log (DT) were used and
depositional system tracts such as Low Stand System Tract (LST),Transgressive System
tracts (TST), High Stand System Tract (HST) and Sequence boundaries such as Type 1
(SB1) and Type 2 (SB2) have been identified. Four Type 1 Sequence Boundaries (SB1)
and one Type 2 Sequence Boundary (SB2) from Early Permian to Top Eocene have been
identified. In early Permian LST has been identified in Tobra Formation and Early HST
have been identified in Dandot Formation, LST is designated for Warchha Sandstone and
TST has been identified in Sardhai Formation. In Paleocene age, LST and TST have been
identified in Hangu Formation, TST has been identified in Lockhart and HST has been
identified in Patala. In Eocene age, SMST has been suggested for Nammal Formation,
Early HST for Sakessar Limestone and Late HST has been suggested for Chorgali
Formation.
Although quality of data was not much reliable yet depositional tracts and
stratigraphic features have been identified on seismic data, well log correlation model that
has been validated through literature review combined with it to form finalized seismic
stratigraphic model of Gujar Khan (study area) has also been developed.
