dc.description.abstract Mobile devices and mobile applications (mobile apps) have brought about a significant shift in consumer behavior. Shopping has evolved in e-shopping marketing has become e-marketing and commerce has become e-commerce. This technological shift in applications became possible with the help of mobile applications available over the interne. Software testing helps identify faults and considered as a recurring activity for mobile and web based applications. The aim of this study is testing mobile applications with an implication of fault models that will help to identify the test patterns and evaluate the effectiveness of this approach via case studies. Components of fault model have been collected by detailed study of existing literature. Test redundancy can be reduced with our proposed fault model. Proposed test pattern can be used to reduce testing efforts, resources while increasing the test coverage and quality. We have focused to provide the test strategies based upon fault types, which will help industry professionals to conduct testing. We have performed evaluation of our work via Pakistan's 1st mobile banking solution "Easypaisa application" which is in use by more than 10 million active mobile subscribers. There are more than 10 thousand merchants (Easypaisa shops) in all over Pakistan generating an annual turnover of approx. Rs 5 billion. We validated our test pattern based on fault model through practically testing and evaluating the test cases of approx. 60 modules of application. en_US
