dc.description.abstract | Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are becoming extremely famous for monitoring a large range of physical and environmental factors. Different applications have been designed for monitoring purposes in which sensor nodes are used to sense and transmit it to the Base Station (BS) through single or multi-hop routing. Existing routing protocols designed for WSNs are not feasible to manage energy issues of the sensor nodes. Because of complex routing protocol, these nodes depleted their power before their time. Because of these limitations, the nodes which are close to BS are continuously relying on the network for data forwarding. These nodes cause energy consumption and with time may lead to a useless state. This research proposes a scheme for Cluster Head (CH) selection as well as CH rotation to maximize the energy efficiency in the network. Furthermore, gateway nodes are choosing in every cluster to overcome the load on CH. Simulation results indicated the good performance of the proposed protocol as compared to the existing comparison routing protocols with respect to network lifetime and energy consumption | en_US |
