dc.description.abstract The objective of this research was to quantify the Badin Shales, of Lower Goru, as unconventional resource in the Badin area, through TOC and porosity estimation, and to describe the structural settings of the study area using seismic interpretation of the data set. The data provided by DGPC included, 2D seismic lines and log data of Jabo-01 well, Nereri-01 well, RajEast-01 well, of the Badin block. Seismic interpretation confirms the presence of normal faults, making horst and graben structure, and dipping in East and West directions. Out of the three basic models of post-stack inversion, Model-based inversion was applied for impedance prediction of Badin Shales, as model-based inversion provides greater bandwidth and provides acoustic impedance variation over the study area. Source rock evaluation was done, for estimation of TOC from well logs of the provided wells, for identifying unconventional resource, using the Passey’s ∆logR method. TOC estimation is the most important factor in identifying the reservoir potential of unconventional shales. The TOC and porosity models indicate Total Porosity of > 8.5% and average TOC > 3% of the study area. Such characteristics indicate that Badin Shale possesses the capacity to produce oil and gas. en_US
