dc.description.abstract The Kashmiri struggle for freedom is purely indigenous due to lack of right of self-determination as a consequence of which there is an environment of anger and resentment since always but more significantly after the revocation of Article 370 and 35A. The Indian administration is taking unilateral actions that are against the UN resolutions, where UN and other international organizations are silent, notwithstanding the atrocities carried out by Indian forces. Moreover, the security competition between India and Pakistan has made challenges in the way of a peaceful resolution of the conflict since both the states consider Kashmir to be an asset of their respective national interests. Regional Security Complex theory by Barry Buzan and Ole Weaver, is fundamental in understanding the Indian behaviour as to be that of an aggressor and hegemon who is it is trying to achieve the status of a regional hegemon while maintaining dominancy in the region in social, cultural, ideological as well as economic sectors. Hence, abrupt, and immediate implementation of a forceful as well as effective UN resolution is required to put an end to Indian armies' illegitimate occupation of Kashmir. The study has also tried to represent a comparative analysis of role of UN and its effectiveness in Kashmir to that of East Timor. It will be a good read for those who want to understand the policy perspective as to why there has never been any consensus between both India and Pakistan on the issue of IIOK. Much of the emphasis would be upon the repercussions of implications of the decision of abrogation of article 370 and 35A on 5 August 2019 en_US
