dc.description.abstract The research covers the extensive work done to estimate the Conventional and Unconventional hydrocarbon potential of Makori 01, Manzalai 02, and Chanda deep 01 wells, drilled in Kohat sub-basin in the localities of Karak City and Kohat City, province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The target lithology in all three wells was determined to be Datta Formation. The research work consists of evaluating conventional and unconventional reservoir characteristics of sand and shale intervals in Datta Formation. For this purpose, mineralogical composition of the Datta Formation was determined using Geographix software (Three mineral method). The production potential of unconventional wells was also estimated by calculating Total Organic Content (TOC), Brittleness Index, and Shale Porosity. The evaluation of conventional reservoir characteristics in Datta Formation demanded the study of mineralogical composition of the formation using Shale cross-plots, Porosity cross-plots, and Reservoir cross-plots while the production capacity was determined by estimating Volume of Shale, Resistivity of Water, Saturation of Water, Saturation of Hydrocarbons and different porosities. Stratigraphic Correlation was also done to assess the lateral variations of reservoir properties. Subsurface Geophysical Evaluation revealed both conventional and unconventional reservoir potential of shale at different intervals. en_US
