Abstract:
The Eastern Potwar has thoroughly been studied in past for the subsurface structural
geometries and their impact on the reservoir properties especially the Domeli-Dil Jabba
triangle zone where several wells drilled in the upper and lower sheet in the Domeli-Dil
Jabba thrust and the Salt Range thrust respectively. Our Study area lies from Gujjar khan to
Chakwal District. From Qazian to Kal the area is deeply analyzed based upon the structural
style and the reservoir petrophysical properties which proclaim the subsurface properties of
Qazian Structure as a thrust bounded anti-stacking pattern of Qazian fault above the Domeli
Thrust and where both the thrust sheets show significant closure for the hydrocarbon
entrapment except the Well Qazian-1X which is along the fault and show poor porosity along
with the hydrocarbon existence. As per the Rajian and Kal Structure both and thrust bounded
duplex structure and especially the Kal Structure shows the Duplex pattern with the basement
detachment and the roof thrust as Kal and in the Rajian area as Domeli thrust along with the
Domeli back-thrust. There are also wells drilled for the hydrocarbons exploration but
unfortunately did not produce from the upper sheet as Dil Jabba Thrust due to the poor
porosity even the hydrocarbon shows were found. However, the lower Sheet as Salt range
thrust shows good Porosity with low hydrocarbons. We mark the side-wise lateral extent of
the strata in the area where there we found the structural traps and we believed that they may
contain hydrocarbons based on their structural closure and seismic direct hydrocarbon
identification method. Generally, we do not look for the hydrocarbons in the triangle zone.
But the Domeli back-thrust and Dil Jabba thrust in the Rajian area are negotiable for the
hydrocarbon’s exploration.
