Abstract:
IoT is an evolved version of ubiquitous computing where all the objects have virtual presence
over the internet. The embedded systems and the smart sensors/actuators work in joint effort to
accomplish user defined objectives. The IoT network collect real time data from the environment
and then process this information to generate control signals and finally actuate the controlled
variable to a desired reference benchmark. The enabling technologies for the sensing and
identification are wireless sensors and RFID system. The RFID are being commonly used as they
are less cost, non-line of sight scanning and long range. Issues since this network is the source of
data for the application the sensing layer had to face security and privacy.
In this thesis, the minimalist crypto suits designed for ISO 18000 6C passive tags are studied. In
the literature, these suites are defined suitable for the RFID tags only. However, this thesis
proves their validity for a greater range of memory and power constraint devices.
