Network Media Messenger : A Proposed Multimedia Solution over the Network (LAN)

Abstract

NETWORK MEEDIA MESSENGER has developed to provide a complete multimedia solution over the network (LAN). Also have the capability of running on multi-platforms. The motivation behind this project comes from the lack of platform independent solution for multimedia computing (e.g. Play back media file, Transcoding media (Conversion from one media format to other), Broadcasting media, Receiving media, Capturing, videoconferencing etc). Proprietary hardware and platform specific video formats require multimedia type application to be tailored and rewritten for each computing pl~tform . Network Media Player has developed to address not only platform independent network multimedia computing problems such as broadcast media, receiving, video conferencing but also provide a powerful media player which is capable of playing back media files, capturing and presenting and saving them into different media formats (Transcoding). Through the use of java Media Framework API, tool are created to increase the transmission, capture and availability of multimedia content.
