dc.description.abstract | An intelligent security and tracking system which employs the utility of Short Messaging Service (SMS), Global Positioning system (GPS)) and Geographical Information System (GIS). The theme working behind our Project is the efficient utilization of these techniques in provision of security and tracking of vehicles. An inbuilt system, connected to door and ignition switch of the vehicle will immediately inform user about the start of vehicle through SMS. If the Vehicle door is opened owner is informed by an SMS. This message will be generated at the interval of 15 seconds for three times and on forth message coordinated will be send to the mobile connected to computer. These coordinates can now be mapped on a GIS to locate the vehicle accurately. The beauty of the project is that the thief will never know that the theft has been reported. Another feature used to disguise the thief is that whenever the vehicle is blocked for the first time, clearly the thief will make another attempt. The whole project has been designed in such a way that it will allow and make the thief to start the vehicle three times with different delays fooling the thief that there is some malfunction in the vehicle. The car will not start for the fourth time. The system thus provides sound security against the theft of vehicles. The whole project is based on Microcontroller Unit (MCU) concept designed to be interfaced with GSM and GPS device.
