dc.description.abstract Cellular phones have become an essential component of the modern way of life. From young college students to multi-billionaire business associates, everyone carries a cell phone in his pocket. With every single passing day, the technology involved in manufacturing the mobile phones is advancing. A lot of money is spent for research purposes. One such research has been that how to increase the battery life time and how to shrink the size of the mobile phone. But with all the advancement in the technology, we still have to attach our cell phone to the wall for charging it. Keeping this in mind, our project team came up with a fascinating idea of charging the mobile phone wirelessly, without any physical connection with the charger. The objective of the project is to charge the battery of a cell phone from the radio frequency(RF) which is generated by a transmitter (charger in this case) and is received by the receiver circuit attached to the mobile. The range in which these RF can be received depends upon the circuit and the circuit components used at both the transmitter and the receiver side. As there are no known companies or organizations that are developing a wireless battery charger, so due to the deficiency of data available on the internet and in the books, the range of the wireless battery charger in this particular project is of the order of few feet. Apart from charging the mobile phone, turning on an LED wirelessly has also been achieved during this project. The LED can be turned on at a greater distance as compared to charging the phone, as turning on an LED requires less power comparatively. This research based project presents a scheme for designing a kind of wireless charging system aimed to provide power transmission for personal mobile devices such as cell phones. The project is comprised of design and implementation of transmitter, antenna, receiver and the charging circuit. en_US
