Abstract:
This study looks into how work-family conflict and Polychronicity impact work engagement in physical and virtual employees. The study proposed that work-family conflict negatively correlates with work engagement while Polychronicity moderates this relationship. Employees from the office based and online jobs participated in this study. A total of 200 employees were chosen. An online survey was conducted to collect the data. All of the questions were created using a Likert-point scale to mark the answers. SPSS was used to analyze the data in terms of frequency, t-test, and correlation. The moderating role of polychronicity was also assessed using moderation analysis. The findings indicated that WFC and WE are not statistically correlated while Polychronicity acts as a significant predictor of WE. However, the hypothesis that polychronicity moderates the relationship has been rejected. In addition, findings revealed that females are more polychronic than males. The study findings will be useful for practitioners and HR managers. The study signifies the need to explore the nature of work environment. It stresses that employees are impacted by different stressors some of which are differently associated with nature of work place. Moreover, the research findings are especially crucial in the current time (with the emergence of COVID-19), when the work space is quickly shifting from traditional to online setting.
