Abstract:
Purpose
The aim of the current study is to determine the effect of green supply chain management
practices on the sustainability performance oftextile firms of Pakistan.
Methodology and design
The study has the objective of explaining the role of green SC practices towards the
sustainability performance of textile firms using numeric data and statistical estimations.
Therefore, a quantitative approach has been used in the study. 150 sample responses were
collected from the accessible population. Supply chain professionals oftextile firms ofKarachi
have been explicitly selected. The study has used two techniques for data analysis, viz.
reliability analysis using Cronbach (1951) alpha and multiple regression analysis for
hypothesis-testing.
Findings
Green supplier development has positive but insignificant effect on firm sustainable
performance. Furthermore, green manufacturing practices has positive but statistically
insignificant effect on firm sustainable performance. Moreover, green SC integration has
positive but statistically insignificant effect on firm sustainable performance. However, green
purchasing has positively significant effect on firm sustainable performance and lastly, internal
management has positively significant effect on firm sustainable performance.
Limitations
This research study was done on a limited area that is it was done only in the firms located in
various cities of Pakistan. This makes the research not very accurate and cannot be used as a
standard for other countries. The study only provides information related to the firms in
Pakistan, so the results are just based on a specific country. Other than that, the study uses the

explanatory type which does not concentrate on the unknown or the lesser known situation.
Hence, the study cannot provide outcomes or findings for the lesser known phenomenon or the
ones that are not very common.
Recommendations
The managers can utilize the green manufacturing in order to measure the ideas about green
manufacturing in their firms and to recognize those regions where further improvements are
needed. The managers should adopt the green manufacturing to find best suited approach that
fits and effects the performance of their firm
