Abstract:
Purpose
The study was conducted to examine the impact of supply chain risks that were supply side
risk (upstream), demand side risk (downstream), and manufacturing riskJ in process risk on
supply chain performance. The construction industry is a relevant segment of world-wide
economy and at the same time a complex and often underperforming sector. It is characterized
with high fragmentation, low productivity, cost and time overruns, and conflicts. Very often
project schedule slips, budget overruns, quality is compromised, so that claims and
counterclaims problems have plagued the industry.
Methodology & Design
Quantitative research design is used for the present explanatory research with data collection
process of convenience sampling.
Findings
Findings concluded that hypothesis developed during literature review two ofthem are found
to be significant and only one is rejected on the basis on analysis.
Limitations
First, we didn't look at the impact of industry disparities on the risk-performance linkages we
discovered in our research. In a few industries, such relationships may alter due to differences
in client wants and preferences, as well as differences in production or supply chain
management procedures. Second, our research did not look into the causes of disparities in
risk-performance connections amongst organizations, only that they exist. As a result, a more
in-depth conversation is needed to determine whether plant-level decision makers recognize
and account for these relationships when managing the supply chain.
Recommendations Allocating precious resources to the mitigation of manufacturing risk (MR) and supply side
hazaids in ordei to make better use of risk management resources. This element connects to
the beginning, where we stated that a string of recent disturbs has prompted a renewed focus
on supply chain risk and its impact on the performance for construction industry of Karachi.
All the three risk are interconnected with each other, if one impacts the performance ofsupply chain so the second risk also impacts the performance level.
