Abstract:
Missa Keswal oil field lies about 60 kilometres south-east of Islamabad, near
the Potwar basin's eastern section. In June 1991, the field was identified, and in
December 1992, it began producing consistently. Missa Keswal is situated on a latitude
of 33o 2” North and a longitude of 73o58” East. The major goal of this thesis is to use
seismic and well log data to assess the structure and hydrocarbon potential. The
targeted formation is of Eocene age. Some major thrust/reverse faults were also
identified along these formations. Time, depth, and velocity contour maps of Chorgali,
Sakesar and Lockhart formations are generated which confirm the pop-up anticlinal
structure in the subsurface and is acting as trap for hydrocarbons.
