dc.description.abstract Potwar plateau is a promising hydrocarbon exploration field in the upper Indus basin. The study lies in the Chakwal area of Punjab Province, Pakistan's Upper Indus basin. With the permission of the Director General of Petroleum Concession Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Islamabad, the research data was obtained from LMKR. The 2D seismic analysis is critical for interpreting subsurface structure clarity in the study area and the presence of hydrocarbon in the sedimentary basin's deeper horizon. The interpretation will be carried out to validate the Chorgali Formation's reservoir characteristics and to identify a promising site for test drilling into the formation. The two-way time of the reflectors will be used to build time structure maps of the reflectors. The region for reserve calculation is calculated by converting the time structure map into a depth contour map. The volume of shale was measured using a gamma ray log, porosity was measured using a density and neutron log, water resistivity was measured using the SP process, water saturation in the reservoir zone was measured using the Archie equation, and hydrocarbon saturation was measured using the Archie equation. To estimate reserves, both of these criteria are used. The average saturation of water in the Chorgali Formation is 40.85%, and the average saturation of hydrocarbon is 89.33%, while the average saturation of water in the Sakesar Formation is 61.31%, and the average saturation of hydrocarbon is 38.68%. en_US
