Abstract:
In this study, drinking water quality of different towns such as Satellite town,
Pakistan town, Korang town, Bahria town, Rawal town, Shahzad town, Margalla town
and Ghori town of the twin cities (Rawalpindi and Islamabad) were analyzed. The main
sources used for water sample were filter water, ground water and supply water. The
main purpose of this study was to determine the physicochemical and microbiological
quality of drinking water in selected towns of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The overall
result of the study showed that the concentration of all the physicochemical parameters
e.g., pH, temperature, Total dissolved salts, Alkalinity, Total salts and turbidity were
within permissible limits defined by WHO. Microbiological analysis showed bacterial
counts in few water samples collected from various sources.
