Abstract:
As initially planned, massive open online applications promised to provide educational access to anybody with an internet connection. These Applications allow a large number of people to take online courses for free, with no restrictions on location or time. As a result, institutes and organizations are showing interest in using these online educational applications. Universities can no longer ignore this rapidly growing aspect of e-learning and must now decide whether or not to embrace this approach of teaching and learning. However, if the university’s home nation is an emerging country, the decision to produce MOOCs becomes more challenging. The present stage of MOOE apps development is examined in this literature review, which examines current patterns set by universities and MOOC hosting platforms, mostly in more economically developed nations. It examines how building MOOCs using tried-and-true methodologies may provide obstacles for emerging nations, as well as the opportunities for MOOC development in these areas.
