Abstract:
The project area lies in the Sulaiman Range, Central Indus Basin. The
Pirkoh Gas field is located in Baluchistan province,about 610 kms south west
of Islamabad and 100 kms North West of the Sui Gas Field with an elevation of
1115 meters above mean sea level. The seismic lines chosen for interpretation
were strike lines 826-PRK-15 and dip 826-PRK-16,816-PRK-09, 816-PRK-03
and 816-PRK-02 lies in the Sulaiman Range. One strike line runs in north
direction and four dip lines runs in west east direction. The data acquisition
and processing was done by OGDCL.
Prominent reflectors were marked on the seismic sections which
represent different formations. A time section is produced from the seismic
section using the SP and the two way travel time of the reflector.The average
velocities were then used to find the depth of each formation for depth
section.Three reflectors were marked on the seismic section on the basis of
observed reflection events. The marked horizons exhibit deformation in the
area caused by compressional tectonics. Subsurface contour mapping were
carried out for generating the time and depth contour maps to see extension of
respective horizons.
Interpretation of seismic section is done on the basis of “ Phantom
Horizon Method” and “Jump and Tie Method” because the data quality was
poor.Our project area is under compressional regime.On the basis of depth and
stratigraphic information of our study area We have given names to horizons
R1, R2 and R3 and R1 can probably be Sui main limestone formation, R2
Chiltan,R3 Alozai shale formation.
