2D Seismic Data Interpretation of Siahkoh Area, D. G. Khan Block, Central Indus Basin, Pakistan (P-1048) (MFN 3030)

Abstract

This thesis contains the study of 2D seismic reflection data interpretation of selected seismic lines of Siahkoh Area, Central Indus Basin, Pakistan, for delineation of subsurface structures favorable for hydrocarbon accumulation. Siahkoh Area is situated in the Barkhan district of Balochistan province. The data comprised of migrated sections of four seismic lines, their base map and well tops of Burzi Well#01. Two reflectors were marked on the seismic sections that were identified as TLG (Top Lower Goru) formation and Parh Limestone of late and early Cretacous age respectively with faults and other folding structure. And by manually picking reflector time, two way travel time contour maps were generated using manual contouring method. The TWT contour maps were prepared for both the reflectors. After that, time to depth conversion was made using the depths of formations given in well summary of Burzi-01. Later from these converted values depth contour maps were generated which gave the clearer picture of the subsurface structure. Finally the subsurface structure was discussed as potential hydrocarbon reservoir and recommendations were presented.
