dc.description.abstract | Electricity transmission has been a phenomenon since it was discovered by mankind. Although it was difcult in the beginning it soon started to gain popularity and its accessibility to the general public was a major concern for scientists because of energy losses that occurred when electricity was transmitted. To cope with this, scientists came up with the idea of using organic materials for insulators due to their insulation properties so that minimal amount of current is leaked. It is impossible to test the polymer insulator in an open feld since it is extremely time consuming and requires daily checkup to maintain check and balance of leakage current and the effect of nature on the polymer insulators. So, to cope with this problem we have devised a solution.We have designed the Multistress Aging Chamber for High Voltage Insulators that has the capacity to perform all sorts of aging/weathering tests on all types of insulators available in the market. The main focus of this project would be that the chamber can provide AC as well as DC stress results on the polymer insulators and we can gather all required information using just a single chamber. | en_US |
