The present study pertains to the modeling of the productive zones from seismic and well log data. This was carried out by using seismic lines; 805-SK-19, 805-SK-20, 845-SK-29, 855-SK-31 and well log data of Dhodak Well # 3 provided by the Directorate General of Petroleum Concession. The area is important for its hydrocarbon (gas oil condensate) structural traps. The Dhodak Gas-Oil condensate field was acquired by OGDCL. The area lies in the Central Indus basin and the reservoir encountered during the study of Dhodak Well # 3 is Pab Sandstone formation.
During the study of Seismic sections first of all prominent reflectors were picked from the seismic sections on the basis of Synthetic Seismogram. Four reflectors were marked namely R1 (probably Dungan Formation), R2 (probably Pab Sandstone Formation), R3 (probably Mughal Kot Formation) and R4 (probably Chiltan Formation). Time picking of each reflector was done and faults were identified on seismic sections. Formula used for the conversion of time into depth is given below:
S = V*T/2
Moreover; time, depth and velocity contour maps of the respective horizons were generated by using Surfer Software.
In Petrophysical studies, reservoir parameters that are Volume of Shale, Porosity (Density* NPHI or Sonic), Resistivity of Water, Water Saturation and Hydrocarbon Saturation were calculated for Pab Sandstone (resorvoir). During petrophysical interpretation different cross plots were constructed like porosity, volume of shale, Hydrocarbon saturation, Water Saturation against depth interval |
