Abstract:
The purposes of this dissertation are to the study and interpret 2D seismic reflection data of selected seismic lines from Tajjal Area, Kadanwari Block, Lower Indus Basin, Pakistan. Our main objective was to evaluate leads and prospects in the Kadanwari Gas Field, Sindh Pakistan. This has been done by subsurface mapping using seismic data and its incorporation with the well data. Four seismic lines namely TJ89 – 520, TJ89 – 524, TJ90 – 709 & TJ91 – 803 along with Gorwar-01 well were utilized for this purpose.
Methodology adopted to achieve this task includes; structural interpretation on all the seismic lines with the help of well data. Time and Depth contour mapping, Identification of potential leads at Sui Main Limestone and Lower Goru.
In this study, five stratigraphic horizons have been marked named Top Pirkoh Formation, Top Habib Rahi Formation, Top Sui Main Limestone, Top Upper Goru Formation and Top Lower Goru Formation. Top two reflectors Pirkoh and HRL shows gentle dipping to the eastern side while others are relatively flat and disturbed by structural event.
Study area lies in extensional regime where horst and graben structures are associated; which create negative flower structures in the area. Faults are deep seated and are of cretaceous age. These faults are responsible for structural traps in this area.
