dc.description.abstract | As the information technology is growing with unexpected speed and is having a great impact on our socio economic life, the margin of error has reduced to almost to zero. A minute vulnerable point could result in disastrous consequences. This is true where ever information does matter. Geographical Information Systems are now finding their applications in important socio economic and defense related issues. GIS are playing a very useful role for making correct and timely decisions and for future planning. They involve processing, storage and transmission of sensitive information, which if used by unauthorized peoples could produce fatal results for the owner of the information. Therefore, it has become utmost important to protect that information from unauthorized interception and modification. This requires the establishment of Virtual Private Networks for GIS applications to ensure privacy, authentication and integration of data. In this paper we present new techniques for the processing, storage and transmission of information in secure form. Based on our techniques we demonstrate that network performance does not degrade beyond tolerance level. | en_US |
