Abstract:
The loss of motion is a great tragedy that can happen to any human. Sometimes the individual can only move his eyes losing all the other motor abilities in the body. Automated wheelchairs that use gestures such as head movement or voice recognition are insufficient for such patients; Iris-controlled wheelchair is a possible solution for such individuals. In this work, a strategy for eyeball position detection is proposed for controlling the wheelchair. The iris position is progressively identified through frames in video and is followed. The idea is to make an iris-controlled system that permits the movement of wheelchair, based on movement of eye. The wheelchair system developed in this project can move along a path when the patient simply gazes in that direction.
