dc.description.abstract The Internet's potential as a platform for commerce, communications, and business automation is constrained by the limitations of today's user experience. To address this challenge, a new class of applications-Rich Internet Applications (RIA)- is emerging, which promises to change Internet application development. In this project the need for a new generation of applications has been outlined, along with the technical overview of Rich Internet Applications. and describes the way Macromedia MX product family develop these applications. The project consists of two phases. Phase 1 basically woven around the need of RIA and the way development is done in it and the Phase 2 constitutes the practical implementation of process automation for software firm eCon Solutions. A customized solution has been provided to their company's call center module in which their clients and Customer Support Representative communicate via Voice over IP by using the RTMP protocol. Similar scenario with additional feature of videoconference is implemented for their internal LAN. en_US
