Abstract:
British American Tobacco (BAT) is one of the largest tobacco groups in the world with operations in fore than 180 countries. Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited (PTC), a member of BAT group, is the leading Tobacco Company in Pakistan. In 2004, PTC-fTD and Security Department decided to implement a Security Database (PTC GATE HOUSE) for the security of their factories in Jehlum and Akora with the aim of automating the core security business process in order to replace the manual record keeping system, with the automated system capable of managing process efficiently and in user-friendly manner. 1.2 Project Overview PTC GATE HOUSE System is divided into three main modules, which are Visitors Module, Vehicles ~ovements Module and Material Gate Pass Module. PTC security department tracks record of all the visitors coming to PTC premises. These visitors can be suppliers (business associates), Contractors' staff or relatives/friends of PTC staff. The vehicles Moduie include Visitors' car, Transport vehicles, Supplier vehicles, and Cigarette vehicles. Vehicle movement module replaces the manual record keeping with the automated system capable of managing process efficiently and in user-friendly manner. PTC security department tracks record of the entire material gate passes for anything, which is going out. Currently, this process is completely manual. The automated process is capable of managing process efficiently. All the departments uses a generic electronic gate pass. Material gate pass is routed to the gate and checked by the Security Staff and material is allowed to exit the factory premises along with the material carrying personNehicle.
