| dc.description.abstract | This thesis report is on 2D seismic re-interpretation of Khushalgarh area. Data used for seismic re-interpretation is five seismic lines (2000-KGH-01, 2000-KGH-02, 2000-KGH-06, 2000-KGH-08 and 2000-KGH-19) and Vertical Seismic Profile (VSP). The Khushalgarh area is related to the Northern Potwar Deformed Zone (NPFD) as a part of active fold and thrust belt formed by the Indo-Eurasian plate collision. The purpose of 2D Seismic re-interpretation of Khushalgarh block is to re-evaluate the area to estimate the potential for discovery of hydrocarbons. In this work the tops of three reflectors have been mapped by making time and depth contour maps. In the seismic sections the seismic reflector character and pattern study helped in fault interpretation and fault correlation. The interpretation results have indicated that area had a thrust/reverse faulting system formed as a result of compressional tectonics in the area. The location of the well is between 33o 30’ 47.94” N and 72o 02’ 37.29” E. The structure lies on E-W direction high. Lockhart Formation deposit is theoretical prognosis. The structure is of extremely complex tectonic and thus it was difficult to identify desired horizon in the available seismic sections throughout the area. | en_US |
