dc.description.abstract The integration of a GIS within a Water District allows the data to be stored in an efficient manner, minimizing the amount of data loss, and allowing the user to extract information easily. "W ASA" deals with a large amount of data in many different forms, coming from many locations. Our mission for this project was to help "W ASA" to better organize and manage their data. Among the basic objectives of the project were to create a base map and a database, and to perform some basic analysis using this data. The project dclivcrablcs included a final report and abase map in both paper and digital form. A database with a number of data entry and retrieval system was also included. The data sets that were used were a base map in AutoCAD that contained all the attributes related to the water supply system such as the pipes, nodes, tanks, water meters etc. Field notes were also provided by the various sources and used to place the specified area's water lines. The methodology for completing our tasks was to develop an informative computerized system which would help the concerned authorities in future planning, analyzing, decision making and trouble shooting various problems which result due to the previous designs. The base map was created in Auto Cad & Auto Cad Map using various precision methods. The analysis and querying was conducted in Arc View 3.2. The total project tool< 280 teclmical hours to complete. By incorporating a database and an accurate base map into the everyday workings of a Water supply Utility, the overall problems being faced by the government can be better monitored. en_US
