Abstract:
The present study pertains to the modeling of the productive zones from seismic data. This was carried out by using seismic lines, GHA94-16, GHA94-07, GHA94-05, GHA94-03 provided by the Directorate General of Petroleum Concession. The area lies in the Central Indus Basin and is important for its hydrocarbon (Oil & gas) structural traps. The Ghauspur Gas field was acquired by Petroleum Exploration Limited (PEL).
The study area Ghauspur lies in district sukkur of Central Indus Basin. Seismic surveys in the study area were carried out by Petroleum Exploration Limited in 1994. The study area shows negative flower structure due to transtensional activity in the Cretaceous formations which reveal that the area was subjected to the rifting and drifting.
During the study of Seismic sections first of all four prominent reflectors were marked at the seismic sections. The interpretation of present study area four reflectors were marked as R1, R2, R3, R4 and then note the time of each reflector against the shot point. Moreover time contour maps and depth contour maps of four reflectors are prepared using the Microsoft excel, surfer software version 9.0 and ArcGIS version 9.3 was also used for the construction of location maps of the area. Formula used for the conversion of time into depth is given below:
S = V*T/2
