| dc.description.abstract | The objective is to evaluate and delineate the Hydrocarbon potential prospects of the area in a part of Lower Indus basin i.e., Gambat. This has been made possible by the surface mapping using seismic sections and its integration with Well Data. A gravity profile is modeled to support the seismic outcome. Four Seismic Lines have been used for the purpose as shown in the following procedure. The procedure of interpretation was started with the marking of horizons, velocity calculations, calculating the depth of the horizons with the help of Well data, generating contour maps and then correlating the gravity model of one seismic line with the seismic outcome and keeping all in view, calculating the Hydrocarbon prospect of the area. In this research four horizons were marked which were identified as Sui Main Limestone (SML), Upper Goru Formation, Lower Goru Formation and Chiltan Limestone. These formations form a petroleum system in the area. The horizons didn’t show major dipping pattern but minor up-dipping of SML was observed. The area lies in a transtensional regime resulted due to extension and hence normal faulting is prevalent in the area. Contour maps show structural traps in the area with respect to the Hydrocarbon prospect. The gravity modeling done along the seismic line BG96GAM-03 using velocity model supports the observed gravity in that area and thus confirming our seismic results to be accurate. | en_US |
