Thesis on Internet 2

Abstract

The Intemet2 is one of the most exc1tmg initiatives in the world of information technology today. Introducing a new Intemet2 program can be challenging, functionally, technically and fiscally. Remote classrooms, virtual laboratories, Tele-Immersion and three-dimensional modeling using the Intemet2 network are starting to be seen in disciplines such as music, medicine, and physics. It is natural to combine the highbandwidth capabilities of the Intemet2 with the visually intensive demands of research educations. The Intemet2 is a natural extension of education as the Internet2 can help bring far away places to you. This research endeavor presents an overview of the requirements, both functional and technical, of an Intemet2 program for people around the globe and particularly in Pakistan, and offers a potential model for other similar Internet2 applications. Also, shall provide guidelines to different departments intending to switch to the world of highbandwidth whilst elaborating the technicalities of the Internet2. The core audience for this paper are the educators familiar with research education, but perhaps unfamiliar with the Internet2 and it's potential. This shall attempt to "even the playing field", helping scientists understand the considerations of a high-bandwidth applications. The dissertation has nine chapters in all starting with the Introduction to the Internet. Following introduction presents an overview of Internet2, next chapter elaborates different initiatives of lnternet2, one follows this chapter starts explaining basic building blocks of Internet2, then discuss were the impact of lnternet2 on world, In last chapter presents a commentary on lntemet2 in Pakistan and looks into the ongoing projects on Intemet2, and makes an analysis of how could Pakistan may benefit from the what lntemet2 has got to offer? And what benefits does this technology offers to People of Pakistan?
