In this thesis report we have paused to see what GS1ll means today and what it will be in near future. GSNI has brought low-cost and reliable mobile communications to most of the countries of the world. GS.U has spent irs childhood in the boundaries of Western Europe but its adolescence is u•elcomed by most oft!te countries ofthe world. H ·e h(n ·e tried humbly tv cover as many segments as pos~ible of GSM. H ·e have gh·en an Ol'el"l'ieH' of histOIJ' of cellular mobile comm'uuicatiou and GS.H siun' it is the preretfuisite of the better understanding of GSNJ, which is mere(r a set of swndanls and recommendations. lYe need to kuow the phases through which GStll has evoh•ed. IVe covered the basic concepts of cellular mobile commwzicarion. These concepts are necessmJ' for the comprehension pf GS1H and to the GSAI network and iute1jaces. It not only covers the compoizents qf the GSAI-PLll/N but also explains the architecture of these components. Figures are added extensively to aid the reader to get better understanding of these components. Jl"e fzal'e also studied meaning of comuionly used identities in GSM. lt . . also focuses the details of subscriber identity module, wlziclz is not less than a magic card and encompasses the topics related to cltaune/s in GS!ti-PLMN network.
