Abstract:
Purpose
The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of workplace recreation on employee
productivity by investigating the effect of physical fitness programs, mental health programs,
and workplace entertainment programs on employee productivity.
Methodology & Design
The research done is explanatory and causal in nature which helped in determining the cause
and effect of independent variables on dependent variables. The sample size for the research is
384 employees from different companies, selected on a convenient sampling basis, out of
which 328 filled the questionnaire. Data was analyzed through SPSS by testing Multiple
Linear Regression and is presented in the form oftables/figures.
Findings
The findings of this research confirmed that physical fitness programs and recreational
activities in an organization have significant positive impact on employee productivity.
Whereas, mental health programs were found to has less significant impact due to the weak
correlations to employee productivity.
Limitations
The shortcoming faced in the research is the less number of responses from employees due to
rigid time frame of study and cultural dilemma as individuals are not enthusiastic about
participating in such academic studies.
Recommendations
This research proposes that organizations should meet challenges that hinders employee to
participate in such activities and schedule the activities accordingly.
