ZUBAN. A Unicode Based Multilingual Web Application for Arabic Script Languages

Abstract

The Unicode Standard is the universal character encoding standard used for representation of text for computer processing. This project is to develop a Unicode based Interactive Community since Unicode provides a consistent way of encoding multilingual plain text, bringing order to a chaotic state of affairs that makes international text files exchange difficult. Zaban is a multilingual web based magazine site that offers users to post mate1ial in all major Pakistani dialects cunently including Urdu, Sindhi and Pashto. User can also select the user interface of the site in any of the suppotted languages. It is a community-oriented site; therefore users are allowed to upload their material in any Pakistani dialect. Zaban is being remodeled as an online archetypal literature library with Pakistan's classic literature available for its members to chetish.
