| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this document is to present an account of the work done thereof in the development of " Galaxy"; an automated and integrated Leaf Buying and Inventory Management System. This system IS presented in partial fulfillment of requirement for the degree of Masters of Computer Sciences. Galaxy, actually intended for Pakistan Tobacco Company, IS a big distributed system , which captures tobacco-buying and related activities carried out by the depots daily in parallel with each other. These activities are typically carried out during th e buying season i.e. from June to November. These depots are set up countrywide with most of the depots cluttered in N .W.F.P thereby forming a network. These depots carry out their day-to-day operations independent of each other. Then after completing each day ' s work they are supposed to dump all the information at one designated location formall y called the Central Server. The theme of the actual data distribution involved herein is based on the principle of snapshot replication. Galaxy offers state-of-the-art technology and security in terms of operational efficiency. A detailed discussion of above things and more ts to come tn the following pages. | en_US |
