dc.description.abstract System Reliability Evaluation Software (SyRES) has been developed to meet the need of the designers and engineers working with complex industrial systems e .g. nuclear power plant industry, aerospace, petrochemical etc. SyRES is developed to find accurate, efficient and robust numerical solution techniques for solving mathematical and logical models of probability safety analysis. It has two specialized modules (i) Simplified Flow Diagram Editor (SFDE) and (ii) Automated Fault Tree Generation System (AFTGS). SFDE helps the system evaluator to draw simplified flow diagram for the system under consideration from the given P&IDs and detail drawings. AFTGS module, automatically generates fault tree diagram from the simplified flow diagram which is a graphical representation of a logical structure representing undesired events and their causes. On the basis of Fault Tree, the software highlights the different probable modes of system failure, their probability of occurrences and finds Minimal Cut Set (MCS). These results are very helpful for the designer and the operational personnel ultimately to assess the safety, and predict the reliability and availability of the target system. en_US
