Abstract:
The project is about constructing a paperless office which will be converted into a distributed office later on. The idea behind a paperless office is that most of the companies of today communicate and keep their company records stored on a paper. The main disadvantage of which, is that it occupies large space, communication is slow and this source is in-reliable, in-efficient and in-secure. Therefore an alternate system is required which can cover these drawbacks. A complete organization is designed which is not dependent on paper for communication and storage. All of the company processing is done through computers with the help of network. The software supports various file types for storage and these files can be sent to different users of the system across the network. The system is highly efficient with user friendly interface, minimum redundancy and facilitated data input due to use of fourth generation visual tools and relational database management system for implementation. It has highly enhanced security and integrity, query management and communication features implemented. The development has been progressed using structural, object relational approach by following the spiral process model. The software has been implemented using Windows 2000 and it has been tested on windows 98 and NT as well. It has been coded using Oracle8i as back end, Developer 6i as front and java for communication. New features like Data archiving, web deployment and mail monitoring etc. are expected to be added to the system in near future as enhancements and commercial requirements.
