Abstract

"www.PlannerOnline.com" is a web application intended to fulfill all the desired requirements for time management by people from different spheres of life, in the most systematic yet friendly fashion. Planner Online is the calendaring tool which allows you to schedule appointments, tasks and events with the click of a button. It lets you automatically send or receive invitations and reminder emails and helps you see all your business, social or personal tasks in a single calendar with daily and monthly views. The users can access their planners from any computer connected to the Internet, which allows you to manage your schedule around the clock from anywhere in the world. This is the key feature of Planner Online, which allows it to effectively use people and resources. It is able to manage meetings, tasks and events separately in the most efficient way. In addition, it integrates the three for the purpose to plan projects. The system is also able to maintain contacts using the address book. The user interface of the web site is quick to load and easy to comprehend with no dead end pages. Planner Online is a three tier web application. The front-end tier has been designed in Macromedia Fireworks MX and Macromedia Dreamweaver MX has been used to generate the web pages. The backend tier is currently working on Microsoft Access which will be upgraded to Microsoft SQL Server 2000 upon deployment. The middle tier is using Active Server Pages technology as the server side scripting engine, and JavaScript has the client side scripting language. PlannerOnline sees itself as a complete planning and management suite in its upcoming versions. Presently, a client side module is under development which will integrate the online application with this offline application thus giving the user freedom to use his/her planner in the absence of the Internet. The online application will automatically update itself once the user connects to the Internet. Moreover, the user will be able to receive tasks and schedule alerts in the form of pop-ups on the offline planner module and alert message of up coming tasks on their mobiles
