dc.description.abstract The purpose of this project is to design and develop a PC/SC compliant Smart Card Reader, using EZ 00 I 0 Micro controller series chip. The basic function of the Reader is to read/write all the information from the Micro Processor based Smart Card on the PC using T=O or T= I protocols on RS-232 interface. The project covers complete design and development of Hardware and Software of the PC/SC compliant Smart Card Reader. The objective of the project was to design the Smart Card Reader, its software implementation and test the hardware and software components or a smart card interrace device. Th~ specifications or the smart card intcrl~tc~ device were~ largely based on the ISO 7816 set of standards. ISO 7816 is comprised of several parts that govern the interoperability of smart cards and their interrace devices. The language used to write the code for the smart card interface device was Microsoft® VISUAL C++™ 6.0. The Microsoft® VISUAL C++™ 6.0 code for the smart card interface device consisted of several modules, each of which is presented and discussed as part of this document en_US
